As nice as it is to have a little piece and quiet around the house when school starts, it really makes me sad. I feel a bit of a Debbie Downy for about a week before it starts. We just have so much fun. We are on the go non-stop we have no schedule and no responsibility. (well maybe a little) We swim, and shop, and play, and watch baseball, and go to lunch, and hang at granny's. We boat, and ski, and lay out. We VACATION!!! We stay up late and then we sleep in. We eat dinner and 8:00 and wear swim suits all day long. We spend our days with our friends. We have so much fun and keep so busy that there isn't one day that we sit around and are bored. So as I sit here and type I feel a little blue thinking about how long I have to wait for my summer fun to begin.

The Cabin
Shauns family has a cabin up Salina canyon. Going to the cabin for Shaun is like going to Bear Lake for me. It is what his family has done since he was a little boy. I have to say that Shaun has endured Bear Lake better than I have endured the cabin. Running water, a shower, a comfy bed are just a few of the necessities of life that I really don't like going without. We have gone to the cabin every year since we have been married, but rarely do we stay overnight. I do enjoy four-wheeling, I like the minty way sage brush smells when you run over it, roasting marshmallows, relaxing, watching them fish, reading a good book. But at the end of the day it is hard for me to go to bed dirty, and even harder waking up with dirt in my hair and feeling gritty from head to toe. But thanks to Shauns brother Devin the cabin has had its own Extreme Maker. The carpet has been replaced, wood floors and tile have been laid, the bathroom was gutted. All the windows were replaced, a new stove was brought in. A water pump has been installed. We now have ceiling fans and even some new furniture. After a fun day I was able to take a hot powerful shower, blow dry my hair and sleep in a really comfy bed. Waking up all clean and fresh, it was like a dream come true. I have to say that in my ten years of going to the cabin it was the best time yet. In fact I am quite anxious for when we go again.

Its that time again
We just had our annual Bear Lake trip. Could any place on earth be better than this. I love this week more than anything else in the world. It is a week to relax, boat, water ski, spend time with family, eat good food and just plain have fun. This is a place where some of my fondest memories are made. Each time I am there I am filled with a youthful excitement that only Bear Lake brings. One of my favorite moments is when we are out on the lake just before the sun sets. Usually there are only a few of us on the boat and all at once the water becomes so smooth it appears to be glass. There is a majestic feeling. Looking at the beauty that night and feeling this overwhelming sense of joy and appreciation helped me realize more how much our Heavenly Father loves us. Giving my family this tender mercy that all of could feel is a moment that none of us will forget. Dad thankyou so much for allowing us to spend the best week of the year over and over and over again!
